In 2006, Dobbs was invited by the Foundation for Culture and a Civil
Society (FCCS) to participate in the New Year’s Music Festival held in
Mazar-e-Sharif, Afghanistan. The biggest musical event in Afghanistan with
musicians from Pakistan, Iran, India, Tajikistan and Afghanistan
participating, the festival was started by the FCCS in 2003 after the fall of
the Taliban, which had prohibited music of any kind. In 2007, WADAN
began hosting Dobbs’ performances in schools, orphanages, rehabilitation
centers and government training workshops, all supporting the rebuilding
effort in Afghanistan. BWV began a
“Music for Afghanistan” campaign
collecting instruments and sheet music for the Vocational Music School,
now the Afghanistan National Institute of Music. Concerts have also been
presented at the schools of Afghans 4 Tomorrow and the American
Friendship Foundation.
Upcoming Events:

Dobbs returned to Afghanistan January
25-February 7, 2011 to participate at the
Winter Academy at the National Institute of
Music and to perform concerts in local
schools and rehabilitation center.
