In 2010 and 2011, Dobbs was invited as faculty of the National Youth Orchestra of Iraq. He tutored the bassists of the orchestra during two festivals, which culminated in a tour of Germany participating in the Bonn Beethovenfest. In collaboration with members of the National Youth Orchestra of Iraq, Dobbs toured Baghdad, Ranya, Erbil and Sulemaniya in 2012 performing in music schools, elementary and high schools, community centers sponsored in part by the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad, Iraq. Dobbs returned in 2014 and 2016 working with local musicians to present concerts in the Kurdistan region.
